Mm, let's see.
Oh! Today was a good day. It was all cloudy n'cold and rainy. It might snow if it's cold enough!
The high today was 40, and the low so far has been 30. Now it's 39, I can still see my breath when I go outside, but it's pretty cool in a nice way.
_-_-_
Now on a serious note.
Read this:
Doctors say the more people who contact the blood bank -- the better his chances are. That's because the blood Michael needs is extremely rare. It's been tough finding a match. But the good news is... is that at least 2-people have already donated. And a couple others are lined up for next week. The blood bank says this is the largest blood-donating effort from the community -- since 9-11.
Each click of the machine, gives new hope to 6-year-old Michael. The little boy's survival is entirely dependent on blood donations from people he doesn't even know. "We're overwhelmed. We just can't believe there are so many nice people willing to do this to help our son. You cannot believe our gratitude."
After News-3 aired Michael's story -- phones at the local blood bank rang off the hook. People lined up to roll up their sleeves. "It's only 4-hours of your life... I mean gees! Help one little kid that's not very much, I don't think anyway." Actually that selfless act is keeping Michael alive. He's fighting Leukemia and a dangerous infection brought on by chemotherapy. The blood he needs is very rare. Only a handful of people out of many thousands qualify as a match. "I can just imagine what his parents ae going through." Each hour is an accomplishment. And without that blood, he would have no hope at all. "We still need some more. But gosh we want to thank everybody from the bottom of our hearts and the prayers and everything... The phone calls, it's just been so helpful."
Doctors say Michael's battle is far from over. But his chances are now greatly improved -- thanks to all those willing to fight along with him.
We want to give you the specific blood Michael needs again. Doctors say he needs type "O." It can be positive or negative. But it must be what they call "CMV negative." If you're not sure which type you have... a simple test can figure it out. Just call united blood services for more information.
